Best Selling Author, Scott Turow

Please join us on October 15, 2020, at 12:00 p.m. for a live-streamed event with best-selling author and club member Scott Turow in conversation with award winning novelist and Illinois Appellate Court Justice, David Ellis.

Scott Turow is the author of eleven bestselling works of fiction, including Identical, Innocent, Presumed Innocent, and The Burden of Proof, and two nonfiction books, including One L, about his experience as a law student. His books have been translated into more than forty languages, sold more than thirty million copies worldwide, and have been adapted into movies and television projects. He has frequently contributed essays and op-ed pieces to publications such as the New York Times, Washington Post, Vanity Fair, The New Yorker, and The Atlantic.  His most recent work, The Last Trial, recounts the final case of Kindle County’s most revered courtroom advocate, Sandy Stern.

Justice Ellis began his legal career in private practice in Chicago in 1993.  In 2007, he began serving as Chief Counsel to the Speaker of the Illinois House of Representatives. In 2009, he served as Counsel to the House Special Investigative Committee considering the impeachment of Governor Rod Blagojevich. He then served as the House Prosecutor who tried and won the conviction of Governor Blagojevich in the Impeachment Trial before the Illinois Senate.  He was elected to the Illinois Appellate Court in 2014 and took office December 1, 2014. As an author, Justice Ellis won the Edgar Allan Poe Award for Best First Novel for Line of Vision.  Since then, he has published Life Sentence, Jury of One, In the Company of Liars, and Eye of the Beholder.
