29 Aug President’s Letter: 2025-2026
August 29, 2025
Dear Lawyers Club Members and Supporters,
Welcome to the 2025-2026 season of the Lawyers Club of Chicago. Since our founding in 1883 as the second-oldest bar association in Chicago, we have served as a place where attorneys and judges gather to learn, exchange ideas, and build lasting relationships.
This year promises to be no exception. We are excited to present a series of engaging programs and events designed to spark thoughtful discussion and foster connection among our members. Our opening program of the year is scheduled for September 9th and features a presentation from Amrith Kaur Aakre, the Director for the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission’s Chicago District. On October 21st, Christian Sheppard, author of The Ancient Wisdom of Baseball, will discuss how baseball may assist those aspiring to live a life of virtue. Registration for both events is available on our website. Additional speakers will be published in future event announcements. Please send suggestions for future speakers and events to attorneys@lawyersclubchicago.org.
As we look ahead to the coming year, I would also like to note that the Club’s Board of Directors is actively seeking members who are interested in serving on the Board. If you are interested in learning more about this opportunity, please reach out to us at attorneys@lawyersclubchicago.org.
The Lawyers Club continues to thrive because its members—attorneys, judges, and law students—share a commitment to thoughtful dialogue, camaraderie, and continued learning. As we embark on this new season, I invite you to renew or begin your membership. Annual dues remain at $200 for Active Members and $100 for Senior Members and Young Lawyers. Accompanying this letter is a dues renewal notice which includes instructions on renewing your membership, which can be done through our website. The Club would not be able to do what it does without the financial support of its members. Thank you in advance for promptly renewing your membership. If you enjoy the fellowship and the informative speakers at our events, please invite a friend or colleague to attend an event with you or to apply for membership.
It is a privilege to serve as your President this year, and I look forward to seeing you at our events.
Very truly yours,
Maureen C. Mullen
President
