Morton Schapiro began his term as the 16th president of Northwestern University in 2009. He is a professor of economics and is among the nation’s leading authorities on the economics of higher education, with expertise in college financing, affordability, and trends in educational costs and student aid. President Schapiro has written or edited nine books and over 100 articles. He has received research grants and contracts from numerous foundations and boards including the National Science Foundation and the US Department of Education.
President Schapiro received his bachelor’s degree in economics from Hofstra University and his doctorate from the University of Pennsylvania. He is a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and the National Academy of Education.
This event is part two of a two-part Lawyers Club series featuring university presidents. University of Chicago President Robert Zimmer addressed the Club on June 21, 2018, at the Club’s Annual Meeting.
