23 Sep President’s Letter: 2024-2025
Dear Lawyers Club Members and Friends,
The Lawyers Club of Chicago, founded in 1883, welcomes you to our 2024-2025 season as we continue our legacy as the second oldest bar association in Chicago.
We are grateful to be able to continue to offer thought-provoking programming, dynamic speakers, and intellectual discussion, all in a collegial and welcoming environment. We began this year with an enlightening and entertaining conversation between former chief judge of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, Judge Rebecca R. Pallmeyer, and Chief Judge Virginia M. Kendall. On October 4, 2024, Lawyers Club members and their guests are invited to attend the Goodman Theatre’s production of “Inherit the Wind,” beginning with a panel discussion addressing the historical and legal themes of the play. Registration details for discounted tickets will be circulated soon. Later in the season, we will host Kirk W. Dillard, the current Chairman of the Regional Transportation Authority Board of Directors and former member of the Illinois State Senate. And this is just the start of what will be an exciting and inciteful year!
In this post-pandemic age, with all the changes that have affected each of us, the Lawyers Club of Chicago has recommitted itself to the notion that we can benefit personally and professionally from social interaction and intellectual discourse about a variety of interesting topics and issues. We are not just a bar association – we offer a forum where attorneys, judges, and students can come together and explore different topics and viewpoints.
The Club relies on the support of its members to defray the administrative expenses that we incur in operating the Club, including the cost of our website, payments platform, and administrative support. To continue serving our membership our “ask” is far lower than most other bar associations. For Active Members, membership dues are only $200. In addition to the $200 membership level, there are options for Young Lawyers, Honorary Members, Non-Resident Members, and Senior Members on the website.
