Please join us for our first in-person event in two years on Thursday, March 3, 2022 in the Alice Rotunda of the Goodman Theatre.  Roche Schulfer, CEO and Executive Director of the Goodman Theatre, and Henry Godinez, Resident Artistic Associate at The Goodman, will join us for a moderated discussion on the subject “Theater in Chicago: Past, Present, and Future.”  This event is free to members and guests.  Advance registration is required.

Roche Schulfer has served as Executive Director of The Goodman Theatre since 1980, coordinated the 12-year process culminating in its move to its current site in the Theatre District in 2000, and overseen more than 350 productions, including close to 200 premiers.  He has been an advocate and a leader for theatre and the performing arts in Chicago, serving as a founder and twice as chair of the League of Chicago Theatres, the trade association of more than 200 Chicago area theaters and producers. He taught at DePaul University for 15 years and is a frequent speaker on the economics of the performing arts.

Henry Godinez is the Resident Artistic Associate at The Goodman Theatre. He has both directed and acted in a wide variety of Goodman productions and served as director of the Goodman’s Latino Theatre Festival. As an actor, he appeared most recently in Goodman’s The Winter’s Tale2666 and the Goodman/Teatro Buendía of Cuba world premiere of Pedro Páramo, and at Writers Theatre in the title role of Quixote: In the Conquest of Self.  He has also appeared on television in Chicago PD, Above the Law, The Beast, The Chicago Code, Boss and Chicago Fire. Born in Havana, Cuba, Mr. Godinez is a professor at Northwestern University and serves on the Board of Directors of the Illinois Arts Council and Albany Park Theater Project.

Our program will conclude by 6:15 pm so that members and guests who wish to attend that evening’s performance can have a quick meal or a drink before the play.  By special arrangement, we are pleased to offer discounted main floor tickets with no handling fee to a performance of the award-winning play The Notebooks of Leonardo da Vinci at the Goodman Theatre starting at 7:30.  You may purchase tickets using a special Lawyers Club promo code LLC at The Goodman’s online box office at the link below:  Goodman Theatre/Notebooks
